Experience the "Spirits of Cape Ann."
Looking for a fun, free activity that will raise your spirits? You'll find that and more on a tour of Ryan and Wood Distilleries. Co-owner and tour guide Kathy Ryan, warmly greets guests as they enter what appears to be an unassuming store front in a small industrial park. In the ensuing hour, guests are treated to an amazing array of fun facts about distilling spirits, the town of Gloucester and a bit of U.S. history dating back to prohibition. Following Kathy downstairs into a large room dominated by the German built still, you may meet her son or husband filling bottles of gin or vodka. It is truly a "Mom, Pop & Son" enterprise. After all the talk, guests are invited back into the "tasting room" to truly experience the "spirits of Cape Ann." Whether one is a gin afficiando, or prefers rum, whiskey or vodka on the rocks there will be something to please every taste.
