a nature trail between Morges and St.Prex
It is possible to walk between Morges and St.Prex in about 2 hours following the lake shore. Nature lovers, who prefer a bit of wilderness will leave the coast after about 40 minutes and continue on the 'Sentier de la Truite' (the trout trail), which turns inland along the small river Boiron de Morges. It is a narrow path with muddy parts in between, with small wooden bridges in a forest of deciduous trees. On 12 panels interesting information is given, naturally about the trout, but also about other creatures living here like the deer, the dipper or the chub. What my wife and me could see was a heron and a red squirrel. Modern civilisation cannot be avoided completely: once one goes through a tunnel under the railway line, once under the high pillars of the motorway. Where the path leaves the river, the 'Sentier de la Truite' officially ends, but nobody will finish the walk here in the middle of nowhere, but will continue, mostly on surfaced roads towards the very beautiful little town of St.Prex, with its chateau and an attractive, mostly pedestrian old center, called 'Le Bourg'. With observing the nature and reading the information boards (French only) one better counts with about 4 hours for this walk. The train will then take one back from St.Prex to much livelier Morges.
