Here, you can enjoy sweeping views of the Swiss Alps, visit a cheese farm, go hiking, visit the Kanzeli viewpoint, and even go skiing or sledding in the winter. Getting to the mountain is part of the fun, with the journey—that’s entirely free with a Swiss Travel Pass— involving a boat ride and a cog railway jaunt. Great visit for a couple of hours
We took the cog wheel train up to the top. Purchased tickets on the train on the day - ticket conductor was very helpful. Mt Rigi was covered in snow and gave our teens a bit of a winter snow experience - we had lots of fun at the top walking and admiring the views, trying not to slip and even throwing a few snowballs. Worth the trip to the top for the views alone! There was a little cafe and souvenir shop at the top.

Great Views!
Mt. Rigi offers great views from the summit. Our trip included the lake boat from Lucerne to Vitznau and then via the Rigi Bahn train to the top. The train station is only a few steps from the boat dock. The only down-side was that our train was extremely crowded and many people were left standing for the entire trip.
