Amazing Old City of Bern

Bern is the de facto capital of Switzerland, referred to as the "federal city Bern" is the fifth-most populous city in Switzerland. Built on a narrow hill bordered on three sides by the river Aare, its compact layout has remained essentially unchanged since its construction during the twelfth to the fifteenth century. During our day trip at Bern from Interlaken , we got a chance to go around the old city of Bern. It's beautiful. We could see amazing sights of various landmarks and understand their significance . Among other things we visited various fountains, Old Clock Tower, Bundesplatz, Federal Building, Aare River , the Bear Pit ,Cathedral at Munsterplatz, Rathaus Bern . Bern is a city that has retained it's old charm yet embracing modernity. Do visit

    Bern and Lucerne
Having visited all of Switzerland during our 8 days tour, I can say two most beautiful cities are Bern and Lucerne. Bern, the capital is situated at the sharp bend of Aare river. The entire old town is under UNESCO. Walking its greatly preserved medieval streets looks like stepping back in that era. The area is very compact and pretty small, so you can cover it in less than a day.

    Enthralling
Enthralling it was to wander around wonderful streetscapes in the bright early autumn sunshine. Beautiful buildings in various hues comprise the streetscapes and many had a profusion of window boxes with vibrant flowers. Archways are plentiful and it was great walking through admiring all on either side. Einsteinhaus is a notable museum, where the Nobel laureate genius was in residence for some years in the early 1900s. Zytglogge has pride of place as a captivating Clock Tower along the cobbled street. Numerous exquisite fountains are dotted throughout. Zähringerbrunnen being just one.
