Spectacular Views Summer or Winter
One of the most beautiful places on earth. My son-in-laws parents own a holiday home that overlooks Lake Thun, the view from their lounge window and balcony over the lake, framed by the mountains beyond has to be one of the most spectacular views I have seen. This winter the snow covered the mountain tops, making this a January I will not forget in a long time. Luckily we will be regular visitors to Switzerland and the Lake Thun. If you get the chance to visit you will be blown away by this beautiful magical place.

Don't miss this!
Whenever we are in Switzerland, we make it a point to go to Thun and take the Ship, just across from the Railway Station to Interlaken. But a first class ticket, it is worth it. We always have lunch in the First Class Restaurant upstairs, and we have never been disappointed. At times the lake is still and you feel like gliding on a mirror when the Ship crosses across the lake. Also very fascinating is the last two or three miles into Interlaken when the Ship navigates the extremely narrow canal with only a meter or two on either side.

Cruising Lake Thun
We caught the boat at the train station in Interlaken. We splurged on the first class seats at top of boat and it was beautiful ride! Spectacular views of the Alps while cruising this lovely Alpine lake. The water is so clean and a lovely shade of blue. Swiss towns dotting the mountainsides, church steeples in every town. Several stops along the way, ride was just over 2 hrs. We were dropped in Thun and enjoyed lunch in town and caught the train back to Bern.
