Very interesting, dont miss a chance to visit

More than one hundred centuries-old buildings from all over Switzerland, 200 farmyard animals, traditional, old-time gardens and fields, demonstrations of local crafts and many special events create a vivid impression of rural life in days gone by. Ballenberg is indeed unique.

Peer into Swiss History through the Ballenberg Museum
The Ballenberg Swiss Open Air Museum is probably one of the most amazing museums I have seen anywhere in the world. Normally, museums tend to be confined to within a building or within set boundaries. However, the Swiss have adopted the Open Air Museum concept to really immerse visitors into what life was like in Swiss history. You will definitely need to spend about 3/4 of a day to look around and experience all the exhibits. There are also live demonstrations for various ancient activities such as cooking, sewing, woodworking, operation of ancient equipment, and even cheesemaking. You can also scan a QR code to see what special exhibits they also have. <> Ballenberg Museum is accessible from either the Brienz Train Station, or the Brünig Hasliberg Train Station. From either station (whichever is closer) you can take Bus 151 in the direction of the other station, and alight at either Ballenberg West Museum Bus Stop or Ballenberg Ost Museum Bus Stop. Tickets can be purchased from either side, but Swiss Travel Pass owners get the tickets free. <> You don't need to exit the same way you entered unless you drove your own car. If you took public transport, you can start from one side of Ballenberg and end on the other side. Reason is the same Bus 151 plies from Brienz Train Station to Brünig Hasliberg Train Station, and stops at *both* Ballenberg Museum Bus Stops.

Excellent place to spend a day learning and experiencing Swiss cultural history
The Open air museum is an excellent way of experiencing how Swiss people in various regions lived, farmed and organised their business and technology at different points in their history. There are preserved examples of numerous styles of houses from different regions of Switzerland as well as demonstrations of various skills: weaving, basket making, ceramics, bread making, cheese making etc. This site is huge. We only had 2 hours and we barely covered half of the site and we were trying to see as much as we could. Recommend enjoying this as a full day out.
