Cute Building

The former summer residence of King Alfonso XIII until the end of his reign, and now owned by the city of Santander. The exterior of the building is built in a bizarre mix of different styles, especially the south-east facing side which looked like it could’ve been several houses joined together. There’s Neo-Gothic, Neo Renaissance, Flemish and Catabrian influences everywhere.

A nice palace on the Peninsula
This is a former Royal Summer Palace which is now used by the local university for its summer language program. A visit here is only possible via a tour which was only in spanish, though the guide would answer questions in English. Not an “over-the-top” setting but a peasant one. The Palace is on the Peninsula de la Magdalena , which in itself is quite nice.

Visited beautiful Magdalena Palace and enjoyed the guided tour although as all in Spanish it was changing in my level of Spanish. Nevertheless to see a typically Scottish residence and hear the shared English/Spanish history was most interesting. Well worth a visit.
