Charming Street
A street linking the entrance into the town towards Plaza Mayor de Santillana del Mar. Many of the most significant landmarks of the town are on this street including Palacio Peredo Barreda, Casa del Águila and Casa la Parra. The street is charming, although you will have to run the gauntlet of tourist shops as well.

Tourist this, tourist that...What are you? Why are you there? Yes, it is a touristic town, yes it has lots of shops catering to the tourists, but that's how the town supports itself! They live on that. Santillana del Mar's been voted the most beautiful village in Spain, and for good reason. It is a pretty little village, worth a visit. It's also on the route of the Camino de Santiago. Perhaps if you don't want to see so many tourists, stay there for a few days and get to know the people as most travellers just come for a few hours.

If you can visit - do so. A wonderful OLD well preserved Spanish village.
We spent about 90 minutes wondering. If you arrive for lunch or dinner, I would encourage you to enjoy a meal in the town. Even better, stay the night as I am sure that it is amazing before the hordes of people descend. There are lots of free places to wonder into. Do so. Enjoy.
