Exceptional Natural Monument
Tuesday 16th August and we visited the Natural Monument of the Teneguía Volcano. It is located on the southwestern slope of the San Antonio Volcano and is also home to Roque Teneguia. On 29th October 1971, there was a volcanic eruption that was subsequently given the name of Teneguía due to the proximity to the Roque Teneguia. In order to visit here, we parked up alongside Parque Fuente Los Quemados and walked the short distance to the track leading to the Roque. It is not permitted to drive down the track. Our walk took us nearly two kilometres into the Natural Monument. As we walked along the track we were treated to some incredible scenery and unspoilt natural habitat and area of scientific interest. It has been an area of Cultural Interest since 1996

Great walk and views
We did the hiking tour from Los Canarios to the Faro Fuancaliente. Once again great views over the volcanic landscape. The track is clearly indicated and cannot be missed. In other tracks this is missing from time to time. A very recommendable track.

Lovely walkabout
We had a good 2-3 hour walk from the bus stop down to the light house. We took the detour up on the top, windy but the view was worth it. It felt like walking on the moon. Black rocks in weird chapes. I recommend to take a bath on the black sand baech down at the light house. You'll work up a sweat walking down the vulcano.
