Caldera de Taburiente, Canary Islands, Spain

5.0 (1.148 reviews) Spent Ranking #3 in La Palma National Parks

Fabulous views and landscape

We pre-booked our parking space at La Cumbrecita (which you need to do if you are visiting in your hire car) and drove up from Los Cancajos. The views from up here are amazing, We did the Lomo de los Chozas circular walk (about one hour - including photo stops) which is a must if you are up here. If you are driving up I would recommend to do this you need to book a two hour slot which will give you plenty of time.

    A great trip
We spent a few hours here. We drove and parked in the car park. The online information talks about reserving space in advance. We happened to pass the visitors’ centre on a previous day and reserved a parking slot for a few days hence. I found out the car park is small and advance booking (free) is advisable. You can specify how much time you need and requests will be met subject to availability. Otherwise, I believe it is possible to park at the foot of the mountain which necessitates quite a hike through the pine forest to reach the start of the actual trails. One trial, to a viewing point, Lomo de los Chozos is fairly flat and a round trip takes about an hour. Other trails involve steep climbing and may also include very narrow paths with sheer drops. There is a small office in the car park and you can check details of the routes. There are sigh boards at the start of the trails. Be aware, some trails may be partially closed if there have been rockfalls. Wear sturdy shoes..hiking boots are best and bring water. It is well worth visiting this park. The scenery is beautiful but plan well.

    An amazing natural wonder
I went on an organised excursion during my visit to La Palma and the first stop was this natural wonder. It’s very peaceful walking through nature and admiring the rock formations and the flora around you. Really enjoyed my visit to this national park and it’s a gem of La Palma.
