Perfect for a day trip from Naples

Walk down the roads of history at Pompeii Archaeological Park, the actual site where Mt. Vesuvius erupted in A.D. 79, claiming thousands of lives and burying Pompeii in several feet of ash. Wander among the ruins with an audio guide or, for greater historical insight, join a guided tour. Come prepared with a hat and sunblock as there isn’t much shade throughout the ruins. There is, however, a café and bar if you need a rest. The ruins are connected by ancient roads, which can be rocky and uneven. travelers are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes. – Tripadvisor

Incredible place!! only once is not enough!!
Incredible place! it is strongly suggested to prepare yourself upfront before visiting such awsome place, for example reading some books or watching some videos so that to fully capture the meaning of what is in front of you. If the visit comes through a guided tour with an archeologist it is even better because he/her will show you the most important and interesting parts of the ancient city and will describe you peculiarities of the people who lived there and the way they lived. Of course a guided tour could cost much more than the normal cost for a ticket (normal cost is just 16 euros for an adult having more than 18 years. Less than 18 years do not pay) but it would worth. I have paid 49 euros for a tour of about 2 hours with a very competent archeologist. We were given some small radio headset so that it was possible to hear to the guide even when we where in crowded places where many others were talking to other groups. Bring with you water and a cap if your visit is in Summer. Furthermore check the weather forecast so that you know if it is expected raining and you can equip yourself with small umbrella or weatherproof jacket. I did my visit is August 2022 and it was in an incredible raining moment of the day but thanks to the good guide we had, it was anyway an interesting visit.

    Pompeii
Having spent a 6 nights in Atrani on the Almafi coast we wanted to visit Pompeii and stay our last night in Nsples. The public transport system is excellent and cheap. Take note that when you arrive in Pompeii you will be confronted by private company employees purporting to be official tourist information guides. They are not. Only buy your tickets and employ a guide at the entrance where you can also leave luggage securely for free. Try to study or research a little so you will know what you want to see, but if you don't there is an excellent map that will set out the best sights in accordance with the amount of time you have to spend. Once inside enjoy the city it is well worth a visit.
