    A relaxing vacation
We spent a week on a houseboat in Lake Shasta. We spent most of our time swimming, kayaking and hiking. The water is warm and very comfortable for swimming. The water is very deep, perfect for jumping or sliding into the water. We saw bald eagles and osprey, as well as the Big Dipper and the Comet Neowise at night. We spent a few days in the Pit River Arm, the Sacramento Arm and the McCloud River Arm. We found many little coves and inlets that were quiet and secluded and no matter where we were, it was peaceful. We didn’t really hear any noise from any of the other houseboats. It was a perfect vacation for social distancing.

    Huge Beautiful Lake
The size of Shasta Lake is Amazing. Miles and miles of shoreline. Locks of recreational boating etc. Houseboats are a big thing. You can rent one and just stay on the lake for days. There are camping and picnic sites, but no open fires at this time. Very high forest fire danger. And be sure to visit the dam. The largest in California and I believe the second largest in the US. Take your time and see several parts of this lake. Lot's of different sites and things to do.
