Places Like This Are Why California Is Amazing
I loved it! After a short walk down a shaded dirt road, the trail turns onto a boardwalk over Oso Flaco Lake and through a dunes system. The boardwalk ends at a lovely beach lined by the dunes, with views from Vanderburg to Diablo Canyon. I especially enjoyed walking over the lake. Great close-up views of the birds. I also liked the contrasts between the lake ecosystem and the beach ecosystem just a few minutes away. When I went mid-week in April 2021, there was no parking fee (but I would have gladly paid). California is filled with lovely spots like this. We are so blessed!

Great birding and nature walk
Great State Park where you can 2 routes to the beach: after either parking in a small lot for $5 or park outside the gate for free, you walk down a dirt road and can turn left over a trex boardwalk or go straight on a dirt and sandy road. Along the paths are many places to stand or sit along the path to watch the birds and wildlife. There are many different species of birds on and around the lake. We also saw raccoon, rabbit and deer. Once at the beach, the beach is wide , long and has very powerful waves not suitable fir swimming.

Great walk
This is a great walk for almost anyone. Flat and easy. Check in with the State employee and pay $5 to park. Worth it as they have decent restrooms, a very well kept path, and interesting interpretive signs along the way explaining the flora and fauna. 7 of us thoroughly enjoyed the outing.
