    A lot to Learn
Well done museum outlining the life of John Steinbeck. Beginning with a short film about John Steinbeck, film could be updated believe was made in 1998, and shows some age but still informative. Then enter the very modern presentation area. It starts with a short family history and then into his stories through his writing timeline ending with his pickup and camper from his “Travels with Charlie”. Just didn’t realize how much Steinbeck had written, what was made into movies, plays, etc. For us this was worth a trip. Afterward we had lunch at Steinbeck House, then visited his grave at Garden of Memories Cemetery, all followed with visit to Cannery Row in Monterey.

Don't miss this if you like writers
Tried to go here about 12 years ago and ran out of time, so was very excited to see it this year. This is an excellent museum. There is an introductory film you can watch (short) about Steinbeck. Then there are multiple rooms/areas that seemed themed to match each of his books. Well thought out and designed, and really a can't miss for anyone who appreciates the author. A few of the audio/visual displays were not working, so do need attention. However the staff were FANTASTIC and warm and had great customer service skills, both at the entry/ticket area and also a staff member that was in the museum area. Also note that Steinbeck's truck Rocinante is here, so very fun to see! Also has a good gift shop.
