Great family fun at a fraction of the Tahoe prices
I took my son for a few days of skiing over President's Week - he had never been skiing before and it had been 15+ year for me. This is a small but great ski park - super friendly staff, minimal crowds, and lift tickets that are less than $50/day. I was able to get him an all-day lesson package with lift ticket and rental for $150 and they had him on a chair lift and going down the beginner slopes by the end of the day with a smile on his face. Zero wait time for me on any of the lifts all day. Great fun and definitely will become an annual trip from here on out.

Things aren't the way they used to be.
Mt. Shasta ski park used to be a family oriented small town ski park. Not a resort. The most recent owners that have taken over are trying to squeeze more profit out of the ski park than the previous owners. They struggle to staff the park due to pay and the community has dissolved so there isn't social yearning for working there anymore. We will see if the cutting back on what used to be normal will be reinvested into infrastructure to make the park grow. As of right now though you will be disappointed if you use to frequent the park several years ago. Grooming has probably been cut back by at least 50 percent and don't expect to enjoy night skiing anymore. That's gone too. The one thing you can count on is prices going up and the park turning into a place that feels more like a corporation not a local spot. If you have never been here then you can expect a small ski park with people that feel more like robots as employees, and you'll be lucky if the lifts don't get shut down due to a small wind, and a limited amount of snow which equates to days open. The park has always dealt with limited snowfall but the atmosphere and cost were so that someone could still feel like they were having a good day when they were through.
