Maybe the best view in the park.
There is an easy hiking trail around this lake...but we did NOT hike that trail. We just went to the spot with the most amazing view of Lassen Peak across the lake with the reflection of the mountain in the lake. Wow. Here's how we found this location. Drive all the way to the North Entrance gate. There are places to park on either side just inside the park. We then hiked along the west end of Manzanita Lake for about 100 yards on a little trail. At this point, you will see the most amazing view. I am attaching a photo from that spot.

Kayak rentals available, but not good for swimming
There are kayak rentals there, but very unofficial. The first park ranger that we asked about it didn’t know what time they started or ended. But when we went out there, there was a dude out there with a few kayaks. Very unofficial. Rates are around $18 for one hour, and $28 for two hours. If you are there for walking the loop, it is an easy hike around the lake. From the parking area, you have to walk to the other side to see Lassen Peak. The view from across the lake at dusk is a nice place to see the sunset, as you can see the reflection of the moon rise above Lassen peak, but there are many bats and mosquitoes on the trail at that time as well.
