Amazing conditions in Mammoth. So much snow , people will be skiing in July.
Mammoth mountain was a blast this past week. Road conditions were tough getting in because of all the snow, but the mountain was outstanding. Tons of powder everywhere, so much fun. Weekends are getting crowded for sure, but if you get up during the week it's much easier to get onto lifts quickly without long lines. They need to upgrade their food a little bit at the lodge areas. It would be nice to have a little higher quality food options and healthy options. Great for the family or a Friends trip. Lodging is getting very expensive and limited due to the heavy crowds. Definitely worth the drive, instead of going to Big Bear or mountain high if you can afford it.

Group lesson plus lift ticket is a great deal. Excellent skiing.
I didn't know about this deal until I arrived at the ticket window. Midweek the adult group lessons are often a private lesson. The deal takes about $50 bucks off the total. There's also a lesson plus lift ticket plus rental deal that provides even more savings. (No discount at demo shop where I rent.) A recent review mentions cold water in the McCoy Station restroom-- that's true. But so what? It's a fabulous mountain and midweek the lines are low to non-existant, especially at Main Lodge and once up on the mountain. Compared to current prices for admission to an amusement park, Mammoth Mountain's facilities and services are a bargain! Good Life Cafe on Old Mammoth Road highly recommended for "home cooking" (open all day but not every day). Finally, if you like skiing in fresh powder, driving to Mammoth when it's stormy requires less than one hour driving at probably snowy altitudes, many fewer when compared to resorts in the western Sierra.
