Lots of Improvements!
You really notice the improvements, the new landscaping and especially the modern walkways. The end of the Lake at 12th Street is completely rebuilt to the benefit of pedestrians and lots of people hang out here. Walking around the Lake is a local ritual.

A Walk Around Lake Merritt
A walk around all or part of Lake Merritt is a wonderful way to see parts of Oakland and get some great walking exercise. I've done it many, many times. I would not do it at night but anytime during light hours is highly recommended.
