Serene and peaceful until the weekend

My husband and I checked in on a Tuesday and the park was super quiet. Beautiful lake but our site was not overlooking water. Our pad was dirt and was level. We have plenty of space but this site (B21) only had water and electric; did not have sewer hook up but there is a dump station nearby. of course there are sites that have full hook up. The park is beautiful and clean, great walking area, and perfect location for exploring Ojai, Ventura, and Carpenteria. Scenery is spectacular, cool to hear all the birds, staff very attentive. Very popular with boaters and fisherman. Our visit was Tuesday to Sunday and even though it was fully booked over the weekend and noisier than during the week, it was kind of nice to have the background noise of families having a great time. They have boat rentals available and a little café as well as a park store. Every site has a picnic table and a fire pit. We loved it! For us, this is a gorgeous portion of California.

    Kayaking Lake Casitas
Kayaking is an exceptional way to see the wildlife and beautiful scenery of Lake Casitas. Highly recommended, especially for mid/intermediate level kayakers and above. You can rent kayaks at the boat shop. For details on this adventure, visits DavidLeeTravel.com.

PERFECT for a hot day with young kids
If you want to escape the heat, or just do something a little different, take the afternoon and go to the Lake Casitas Water Park. No big slides or monster attractions here. Just a fun "structure" in the middle of a wading pool (with sprays, squirts, little slides) and a lazy river to float around. The staff are friendly, there are lots of lifeguards to keep your kids safe so you can float around the lazy river or sit in one of the shaded or sunny chairs and read a book. The air is hot, but very dry, so you cool off each time in the water and warm up outside it.
