Beautiful quiet lake

We took a day trip to this lake while camping at nearby Calaveras Big Trees. This is a beautiful, quiet lake with very clear water. There is a 5 dollar fee to park in the main parking lot. Great location for a picnic & a dip in the water.

Gorgeous blue water; quiet, peaceful -- and accessible.
I discovered this beautiful lake by accident one day after living in a neighboring county for over 20 years, even though it's right on the highway. We like to take the 90 minute or so drive to come here now and then and just hang out and enjoy. There were a few other couples and small families here today, but it was not the least bit crowded -- just lovely. Maybe there is a bright side to all the Covid travel restrictions.

Solitude when the area was evacuated
We spent the night in a cabin across from the Lake, after the majority of the area was evacuated. We woke up the following morning to peace and quiet. There were no birds, probably due to the fire in the sierras. The speed limit on the lake is 10 mph. This is a perfect lake to learn to use a kayak, SUP, or to fish from the many boulders around the lake. The lake is pretty small, and I could see someone getting bored staying for a week. 3 days is probably the perfect amount of time to enjoy the lake.
