Great Day Climbing

Our family had a fantastic time climbing with the Joshua Tree Rock Climbing School. They were completely responsive to online inquiries, and the logistics of arranging the 6-hour private climbing session were easy. Dave was an excellent instructor and provided sound guidance to us as we climbed throughout the day. He ensured that everyone got to the top of each climb -- a hard task given different skill levels. I was surprised that he immediately put us on moderate and moderate-difficult climbs, but we all loved the challenge. We would definitely use them again.

Excellent, fun rock climbing instruction in a beautiful park
Our group of six 50+ yearolds participated in a full day of rock climbing with Joshua Tree Rock Climbing School. We were looking for an activity that would take us out of our "comfort zones", provide us with team building, and to try something none of us had tried before. After searching on the internet, reading reviews about Joshua Tree Rock Climbing School, and speaking with Mark (the owner), I felt confident that they would do a great job. Since we were hiring a private guide/instructor for our group, Mark was nice enough to tell me that we did not need a second guide. I appreciated his honesty. Since there is some risk in this sport, it was good to know that they are also certified by the American Mountain Guides Association. Our guide, Steve, provided us with the specialized equipment you need such as a helmet, rock climbing shoes, and harness. (They even had a size men's 15 rock climbing shoe for someone in our group who is 6' 7"!) Some of us in our group were more physically fit than others. However, that just meant that we had different lengths of climbs and some took longer than others. I can see that almost anyone of any age (as well as they don't have a medical condition) can participate in rock climbing. EVERYONE IN OUR GROUP WAS SUCCESSFUL AND HAD FUN! That was a huge accomplishment for our group. We all supported one another as it was very challenging. Our instructor/guide, Steve, an experienced rock climber and instructor, was outstanding in every way. Knowledgeable in all aspects of rock climbing, he was also extremely patient and very nice as well. Since we had a beginning class, our climbs were up to 90 feet. (The school offers more difficult class levels for experienced rock climbers.) Everyone in our group was able to do many successful climbs - some shorter than others. We had a full day of fun and great exercise in a beautiful part of Joshua Tree (Hidden Valley Picnic area) with stunning rock formations. I would go back in a second and try this again! My only suggestion is to make sure to wear LONG pants even if it's hot; otherwise you risk getting scratched. I highly recommend this activity with Joshua Tree Rock Climbing School for anyone interested in rock climbing or even in trying a new sport! Highly recommended for groups, families, and individuals. Also, if you are staying in Palm Springs, it is not too long of a drive to Joshua Tree (about an hour, depending of course, on where you are coming from). So it's a great activity to keep in mind if you are in Palm Springs. Joshua Tree Rock Climbing School:[--]
