Funky little outdoor/indoor book store with beautiful history tucked in a cabin amongst the redwoods
This place is such a hidden gem. We enjoyed our stop so much. Tucked back in the redwoods with funky, outdoor art installations, a book store to peruse and make purchases from, and a stunning place in natural beauty to relax to enjoy reading your new find— what’s not to love. Would have only been made better if there was a way to purchase something to drink- we would have stayed longer. They were about to have an open mic which would have been magical underneath the majestic redwoods. We enjoyed our little stop and would recommend to lovers of literature and art with a lovely, subversive vibe.

Funky Cool Henry Miller Library
This is a place for artists, poets, bohemians, vagabonds, and beatniks for sure! It is funky and cool. The grounds are large, plenty of room to roam around. Beautiful setting. The library itself is a bit small, but full of Miller and Kerouac books, as well as other books. There is a piano inside that you are welcome to play, as well as several beat up well worn guitars you can take outside and twang away on. It's just a fun place to see and so much a part of the landscape of Big Sur.

Fans of Henry Miller will enjoy visiting
Due to the blockage on Highway 1, we decided to stop into the Henry Miller Memorial Library in Big Sur. It was a nice place to take a break from the drive on Highway 1, there is free coffee available and very interesting books to purchase, should one wish to locate unusual titles.
