Superb Drive over the Pass
I love the drive from Soda Springs to Donner Lake that takes me over this pass with the great views of the Lake and the mountains. I always stop at the view point to take a photo. Train tracks on the horizon.

Gorgeous!
We were here for a lake view wedding on Donner Peak. We took a nice 5 mile hike up to the actual peak and there are super cool rock formations and stunning views of Donner Lake from there. We also walked through history rail tunnels from there. Nice place to spend time with the clean forest air and impressive views.

Get off the freeway
Get off the freeway and take Donner Pass Road. It's beautiful, and there's a ton of awesome geology. I've been driving from the Bay Area to the Truckee area for 25 years, and it was just this year, 2020, that I check out Donner Pass close up.
