Totally biased review. I have loved this bridge since I was young and it still enthralls me. History, architecture, beautiful views. The Pasadena Historical Society has an event usually every other year or so to benefit the bridge with upkeeping and beautification. It is worth it if you can to take a slow drive and enjoy it. Yes the suicide fencing does not add to its beauty yet sadly since the Depression it has been known as Suicide Bridge. The Colorado Street Bridge is worth the drive, even over and over again.

    Beautiful, ethereal and a little sad
    Visited as part of the #localadventurechallenge and I’m so glad I did! I’ve always wanted to see the bridge up close, having always seen it from a distance on the freeway. Easiest way to get there is to plug “Defenders Park” in your GPS. I parked in street parking at Defenders Park. The signs say 2 hour working from 9am-6pm daily. It’s right next to the entrance of the bridge and easy to walk to...very flat and obvious. The bridge has tall fencing up on all sides due to a history of suicides. There’s also a suicide hotline sign at the entrance. All of this lends a sort of sad, ethereal, surreal atmosphere as you’re walking along the bridge. I found myself contemplating what it means to truly live. It’s beautiful scenery and a good place to get some steps in if you’re looking for a new spot. I took my new Olympus camera with me and found it to be a great place to get in some camera practice too!

    Slow down and enjoy the views
    An interesting bridge whether you drive over it or under it, walk across it or around it, or ride your bike across it or under it. Yes, I have done all of those things. The views are very interesting from the bridge and the views of the bridge are pretty neat. Take your time and enjoy the bridge, just try to envision it without the suicide barriers on it.
