Algae bloom makes Clear Lake far from clear
In the end of the summer the water in Clear Lake is everything but clear. The algae bloom might not be dangerous but in many places it smelled really bad. We definately did not want to enter the water or dare to let our dog swim. Lakeport was pretty nice but the other small villages around the lake were not. We did not go fishing this trip, probably this is a better destination if that is your purpose.

Passing thru on HWY 20 to Fort Bragg- Not much here
This route is one way to Fort Bragg from the Sacramento area. Stopped here for a picnic off of HWY 20. Not much here to write about. Seems like it has not changed on this side of the lake for over 30 years. There are some picnic areas with open restrooms.
