California Musical Theatre, California, United States

Not a bad seat in the house!

I love the layout of this Theater! The stage is in the center of the theater with seats all around. The seats don't go back too far so no one is far from the stage. My daughter loved The Wiz performance! The actors were really good and entertaining! We had a good time! The plus side of this being a smaller theater is that the lines for concession and restrooms don't get too long during intermission. We appreciated this after visiting larger theaters in the past and not having time during intermission to use the restroom. I will be checking their schedule to make sure I attend some more of the events at this theater! I used the parking garage next to the theater. I prepaid online for $5. I parked on the second floor and had no issue getting in or out of the parking garage. I can imagine there being an issue if you are parked at a high level.

    Roundly Amazing!
Music Circus, now out from under its tent and presented in the wonderful theater-in-the-round Wells Fargo Pavillion, is consistently excellent, and sometimes absolutely amazing. We have been lucky enough to have enjoyed musicals in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Long Beach and other locales, but have never seen shows as consistently well performed, directed, costumed and staged. For several years, our season tickets have been directly behind the conductor, so we also enjoy not only the music, but the fine musicians, as well. Music Circus productions of "Ragtime," "Cats," and "Hunchback of Notre Dame" are seared into my memory. The use of an extremely talented deaf actor in the latter was a stunning creative decision by which we were deeply touched. We have been able to see one rehearsal each of the last two years, an educational adventure, for sure. The director of the play, as well as those of music, sound, lighting, choreography, stage movement (up, down and around on several levels) all give instructions more or less at the same time. It's incredible to see each person in the production respond only to the appropriate voice. Within a few days, out of all that cacophony comes a seamless production. We couldn't recommend anything in Sacramento more highly. If you are going to be a summer tourist, be sure to see what might be playing. If you are lucky there might still be tickets available.

We look forward to each season.
This is the fourth or fifth season of Music Circus we will attend. Even the least expensive seats against the wall are good seats. The theater is round and the stage will turn at times during a performance so you always have a front row and feel as if you're part of the action. The performances are top quality and we've never been disappointed. Their season only runs during the summer June-August with each show typically running about a week. There is an outer courtyard which offers different types of food/beverage stands. There is also a snack bar inside the theater (popcorn, candy, drinks, ice cream.) Food and beverage can be eaten in the theater. Some restaurants offer discounts if you show your tickets so ask if you're dining before the show. There are different garages that offer flat evening rates after 6pm.
