A gorgeous park that is a must-visit

This 1,200-acre nature park comprises 17 museums, gardens, musical theaters, a sports complex, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo. The park’s Spanish-Moorish architecture and 19 distinct gardens (some require admission fees) attract both tourists and locals. Don’t miss the San Diego Air and Space Museum, the Spanish Village Art Center for unique handicrafts, and the Spreckels Organ Pavilion, where free concerts are hosted in the evenings. Travelers recommend putting aside the whole day to explore the park. To make the most of your time, hop on the Balboa Park trams (they’re free!) to get around. – Tripadvisor

Easy to spend a whole day exploring
The park is huge, but the main areas centre around the museum area. There is a lovely atmosphere just wondering around and taking in the sites. The building architecture is beautiful and gives the area a very European feel to it. There are 17 museums to explore and several lovely gardens. Most museums are close to each other, but where some are a distance away there is a free caterpillar train to ride. The museums are quite expensive to visit so it certainly helped to get 50% off the entrance fees when we visited. I would especially recommend the Japanese garden, cactus garden (free).

    Fun for all ages
What a great place to visit for all ages. We bought an "explorer pass" which got us into 4 of the museums (we picked the 4). There is so much to see and do. Everyone must go - see a museum or go to the zoo - but it's fun for everyone.
