Sacramento Bar
Sacramento Bar is adjacent to the American River Parkway across Jim's bridge. It is a clean and well maintained area with trails, river access and picnic tables. Rest rooms are open. Access is easy from Sunrise Boulevard and there is ample parking. Self registration is $5.00 daily and can be paid by credit card or cash.

Do beware of rattlesnakes!
I actually live with the American River Parkway literally behind my back fence. It is wonderful to have that wilderness right behind me, but, that also means that wild animals are nearby too! The ones that cause me trouble are the rats and rattlesnakes. But, as long as we live with a river behind us, they will share that environment with us. I DO object to the lack of warning signs re the rattlesnake population there. There are warnings about not stepping where the parkway is replanting native plants, but none to warn of the great abundance of rattlers in the area, and to be careful where you step! I see people let their dogs off leashes to run around, and the dogs could sooooo very easily run into a snake and be bitten.
