All about the Sultan

The Brunei Museum was established in 1965, with its first administrative office at the Civic Centre in Bandar Brunei, now known as Bandar Seri Begawan. Given approval for a building of its own, a location was selected for the museum, on a historical site, at Kota Batu about 5km from Bandar Seri Begawan. The construction of the building commenced in 1968 and was completed in 1970. It was officially opened on February 29, 1972 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of United Kingdom.

    All about the Sultan
Beautiful building and interesting exhibits if one keeps in mind that the purpose of this museum is to the glory of the Sultan and the Kingdom. If one contrasts the opulence of the museum with the surrounding area it may be more obvious. No photography outside the central area. Given Shari law and the almost cult worship of the Sultan [would may be a great guy, did not meet him though], it is probably best to not to make disparaging remarks [good manners] about the Sultan or the Kingdom.

    Closed permanently
There are 3 museums located in Kota Batu. Brunei Museum, Brunei Technology Museum and Brunei Maritime Museum. Did not realised that the Brunei Museum has been closed for 5 years now and will be until further notice due to the building structure deemed unsafe (as advised by the staff at the other museums), but the other 2 museums are still operational.
