  1. 4.5 Fort Lauderdale Beach (9.293 reviews)

Fort Lauderdale owes me nothing! Was a little skeptical about the beach being full of seaweed as told by hotel staff. However when we got there it was clean and beautiful! Being from the Virgin Islands, we can be beach snobs! I'm glad the hotel staff was wrong. Was just like home, clean clear to the bottom and warm...once I got in. My only downfall was the prices for the blue beach chairs and umbrellas. $18 per chair and $25 for the umbrella ($61 total) is a BIT excessive for me and all the other folks who brought their own stuff. We were surprised with the cost, as there was no attendant when we arrived and for an hour after we were enjoying ourselves. There were also no signs posted regarding the cost. We still had a great time tho. I'd go back...with my tools tho!. See more..
  2. 4.5 Las Olas Beach (1.801 reviews)
    - A bit cold in January, but still beautiful

We went to this beach in the end of January, and the temperature and the wind were not helping much in getting into the water. But the beach is still beautiful, has a convenient parking lot just across the street (paid), and you can also have snacks, drinks and lunch across the street, just by Las Ols Blvd. There are umbrellas and chairs to rent at the beach, but if you buy an umbrella and a beach towel at Walmart, you get everything for the price that you pay in a single day at the beach, so I recommend that. We parked our car here before we could check in to our condo and on our way back to airport. Safe area with bags in car and we could hang on beach for no fee and have lunch in one of the many nearby restaurants. Very open, clean. See more..

    - Pegasus

I've been to all four of the Pegasus races and enjoyed each and every one of them. I stay at the same motel every year and obviously am quite satisfied with Best Westerns. Been going to Hallandale to visit Gulfstream Park for at least the last 10 years, an 1100 mile trip so I'm a horse junky ! Only make 3 trips a year for horse racing-- Gulf., Saratoga, and one other track for the Ky. Derby. See more..
  5. 4.5 Pompano Beach (412 reviews)
    - Great sunrise & sunset beach for strolling
Spent More than 3 hours Beaches
    Pompano Beach image
The most serene time is during sunrise when volunteers are roping off sea turtle nests during the month of June. The sand gets raked around sunrise as well, so if you are in search of sea glass and shells, right before sunrise is the best time. There were parts of the beach that had brownish seaweed washing up however it changes with the tide. If you are going during the heat of the day, sandals are a must since the sand gets extremely hot. Nice beach if you’re staying at a nearby resort. See more..
