Sasamat in 2021

Sasamat provides a lovely white sand beach on a lake that can be quite clean. The cleanliness depends on the number of people in the water - crowds equal murk and kids doing what kids do. Likewise, for part of the Spring, there can be too many geese with poop everywhere including the water. It’s very popular with open water swimming, having little or no current and being in a largely protected valley the water is rarely more than rippled. Power boats are not allowed, but it is popular with kayakers, stand up paddle boarders and floated of all kinds. One recent development is pay parking. However if you get there early and go in for a swim around the lake you can easily get out before 10:00 and not have to pay. Hope this helps?

    "Great spot to explore"
This was our first time exploring this area. We enjoyed the 3 km walk around the lake. The trail is very well maintained with lots of board walk and gravel path. The washroom was closed at the White Pine beach area due to being the winter season. Bathrooms were available at the main parking lot. Being January, there was lots of parking and only a few others were walking the trails. Sasamat Lake is a beautiful spot to check out!

Nice spot except it's like Coney Island on summer weekends.
Beautiful spot and the lake can really warm up by about mid -July most years but it is also overrated. On summer weekends its the most cramped beach ive ever seen. Its too crowded. Impossible to find parking after about 10am. Theyre trying to limit crowds by closing the lots early and they're ticketing and towing cars left on Bedwell Bay road so if the lots are full your only option is to take transit or cycle in. But it isn't doing much to ease the crowds. White pine beach is really just 2 small beaches and on busy days don't expect alot of space. The water also has had e-coli issues probably from a large flock of Canada geese and their droppings. It is much nicer if you go on a less busy day.
