    Cross country heaven
Miles and miles of beautifully groomed cross country trails in gorgeous mountains. Not at all crowded mid week. Haven’t been there on a weekend. Seniors are half price weekdays. You need downhill control to navigate these trails. What they call intermediate is sometimes more like advanced in my book. If you park at the dog trails parking lot as you enter the park, you can access easier trails without going through hills. But then you won’t be parked by the great day lodge with rentals and food. Get there before they run out of salmon chowder, although the squash soup is good, too, and top it off with a lager. If it’s sunny, you can sit at an outside table on the balcony and enjoy the view. For dog owners, the dog trails are the best I’ve seen. Quite extensive and everyone is so conscientious. Watching all kinds of dogs having so much fun was such a hoot.

A Few Tips About Whistler's Olympic Park
Located about 7 miles/11 kilometers from Whistler Village, this area became famous for the Nordic events during the 2010 Olympics. We toured the facilities in early August 2017. A $5 dollar charge for every car is made to support the Park. The park in the summer opens up on a week day at 10:00 AM. There wasn’t many people around and plenty of room to park. The first event you come to is the impressive Ski Jump areas. Unlike the Calgary Ski Jump, this one was closed to the public. There is a trail that does go up to the event area. In the winter time it may get busier with cross-country skiing, tobogganing and snowshoe trails. In the summer the Day Lodge was closed but there was an impressive clock that was running with times for the PyeongChang South Korean Winter Olympics. Not far is another building where the Biathlon Shooting range is located. Your entry ticket is a $5 dollar savings for firing an authentic Biathlon rifle. You get 10 shots for $10 dollars. There is an extremely knowledgeable attendant that will guide you. I regret now in not doing this activity. There were ski athletes practicing their skills rollerblading away around a track. We never did see where E-Fat bikes could be rented. The Olympic Rings made a superb picture. A good clean bathroom was located at this facility. Warnings about bears were throughout the Park. We did not see any, but they are there nonetheless. Doing the trails either by walking or the E-Fat bikes would take more than an hour unlike our visit. We saw where history was made and that was fine for us. If you found this review “helpful” in any way, please press “LIKE” to let me know.
