A great place to visit

Be sure to add this area to your trip , some fantastic scenery and wonderful wildlife. Visit the Ghost Town at Quesnell Forks, see how the original settlers lived. If in this region at the end September, check out the Salmon runs here. There is an annual event here please check for dates prior to visit. This is a remote location an well worth some quality time here for the wildlife at Horsefly forks. Also be sure to take a ride throw re Beaver Valley road, the wildlife here is spectacular, including Bears, Eagles, Hawks, Dear, Moose. Be sure to drive slowly and have Cameras ready. This is a road a car can navigate, you don't need a 4 WD, unless in Winter. Plan to spend time here to see the best of the scenery and of course wildlife.

    Remote and beautiful
Quesnel Lake is the deepest fjord lake in the world, and is well worth visiting for that reason. But it's got a lot of things going on in the area around it that make visiting worthwhile if you're in the area. The scenery here is incredible: there are rugged cedar forests, rocky beaches, and incredible mountain views from several vantage points on the lake. The wildlife viewing is quite good, especially when there are migratory birds coming through in the spring and fall. You can also watch the salmon run in the fall. If you're interested in gold rush history, there is a lot of that around, as well. The old Quesnel Forks village site is undergoing restoration, and there are several historic gold mining sites in the areas, including one near the town of Likely where water pressure from the Quesnel River was used in the mining process to extract gold from the mountainside. The towns of Likely and Horsefly are themselves very charming; both have very nice general stores full of necessities and memorabilia. I would definitely recommend visiting this area.

    Great Lake to swim in
Visited an uncle of mine with a cabin near Mt Caribou, the water was chilly as it is Mid September and the weather hasn’t exactly been warm and sunny. A great deep fresh water lake brilliant for swimming, fishing, boating or just chillin’.
