Pricy but well worth it for amazing views!

This gondola lift offers a breathtaking scenic experience in the heart of Canada’s Coast Mountains. Suspended a record 1,430 feet above the valley floor, the Peak 2 Peak Gondola transports you over an almost two-mile-long span between Whistler and the Blackcomb Mountains year-round. During winter, you can ski across the 8,171 acres of terrain offered at Whistler Blackcomb Resort. In the summertime, you’ll have access to an expanded trail network on both mountains as you enjoy terrific views of the region’s glaciers and peaks. Glass floors add to the magic of the 11 minute ride up in the air. – Tripadvisor

    A spectacular view
What a great experience. We caught the local bus and started on the Whistler side as we wanted to end on the Blackcomb side so you can land closer to the restaurants and bars. The views in July were amazing, there was still snow as it was an unusual cold summer. It was a clear sunny day so you could see the mountains for miles. Check the weather before you go as it would not be worth it was cloudy. Take a sweater or jacket as even in the summer the wind in the mountains is chilly. We have 1 family member that doesn't like heights but enjoyed the views. The start of the peak to peak is only an 11 minute ride. It is the only gondola that traverses from one ski hill to the other in North America. On the Blackcomb side there is the Winter Olympic rings and a restaurant at the top as well.

Fantastic views on a gorgeous day.
On a Sunday. Beautiful fall day. Whistler lifts were closed so it was necessary to take the Blackcomb gondola up to the top to catch the Peak2Peak. Walked around the top of Blackcomb before taking the Peak2Peak to the Whistler Peak. There are two special gondolas on the Peak2Peak run that have a "glass bottom". It's only a small area of the floor, maybe 3ft square or slightly rectangular in the center of the floor surrounded by a metal railing that one has to stand by and look down. You cannot stand on it. Those two cabins are about 15 minutes apart on the line. There are about 15 other cabins on the run that have a regular floor. The line to get on the glass floor cabin is really long and they cram about 20 people in there so you cannot move around. There's no line to get on a regular cabin and those come every minute or so. No waiting. If you should choose to ride the regular style cabins, there's only a few people in it and you can walk around as you choose and look at the view from anywhere in the cabin. Honestly, the view in the glass bottom is not any better than the regular style cabins. Not worth waiting. Once you get to the Whistler Peak you can hike around and then have snack or lunch at the restaurant, take great pics and then ride the Peak2Peak back to Blackcomb and then take the little gondola back down to the North Village. The Peak2Peak only operated on the weekends and holiday Monday and will close on Oct 10th and with the Whistler lifts closed it's necessary to do a round trip. When the Whistler lifts are operating you can go from either Whistler or Blackcomb, up to the peak, take the Peak2Peak gondola to the other mtn and take a different lift back down. Personally I liked being on the Peak2Peak twice. No more $ to do it that way.
