Nicola Lake, British Columbia, Canada
4.5 (9 reviews) Spent 2-3 hours Ranking #4 in Merritt Bodies of Water
Great recreation lake
Nicola Lake has over 20 species of fish including Kokanee and Rainbow Trout. Fishing picks up in the spring when the Kokanee become active. Nicola is a generally a windy lake making it good place for sailing (boats, boards, parasailing, etc.) There is a public boat launch on the South East side of the lake with a dock you can fish from. Monk Park Provincial campground is located on the North West side of the lake and is a great place for families to spend the day or camp. This lake has a long history with local first nations peoples. (There are two pit house depressions located at Monk Park) The fishing and recreational opportunities at Nicola Lake make this my favorite lake in the region.
