Midweek Peace, Tranquility, and some Bears.

Came up for a couple of days with the missus and our dog. The views of the mountains up the lake are insane and the water is fresh and cold for swimming and floating. We found a shady campsite right on the lake that we could drive right into and setup. Once the sun went down on the first night our dog started growling and barking up at the road, I went to see what was there and there was a medium sized black bear very close at the site entrance. I scared it off quickly and it ran back into the bush. It returned the second night as I forgot to put a small garbage bag we had hanging from a tree away and me and the dog barked it away again. Be careful with your food and other attractants here!

    Great... minor scare
Beautiful place, however after a scary bear encounter, I was looking at some reviews and found someone mention a black bear in the area, not afraid of people. This is true, I was sitting beside the campfire late night and a huge black bear just decided to stroll up within maybe 10 feet of me. I stood up and started backing away, yelling at the bear but he didn't seem to care at all. The bear kept coming towards me but I was able to back away to my car. The bear then carried on to another campsite where I heard several gunshots go off, so I decided to drive over to their campsite. When I got there they told me the bear had done the same thing and walked directly up to them, so one of them started firing off their gun and that too didn't work to scare off the bear.... scary stuff. Beautiful beautiful place, just make sure you're still being aware that you are in bear territory.

Some people have no respect for nature
Jones Lake BC, Some people have no respect for nature or even appreciate the fact the camping is free. Take your crap with you when you go. There was too much garbage left by others at our site to take it all with us., we took some and all of our own.
