Scenic Drive With a Short Hike To a Beautiful Lake

My wife and I discovered this from a hiking brochure when visiting Hope, BC, Canada. To reach the trail head, take Route 5 north east from Hope, BC to exit 221. The drive is very scenic. After taking the exit, pass under Route 5 and drive the only paved, spur road at the interchange. The spur road's pavement ends at the large parking lot for the trail head (about 500 m). Hike the gravel road over the stream and turn left onto the trail. The trail is about 1 km, paralleling the stream which flows from the lake. The lake is very nice. There are two wooden platforms for tents, making this a nice, easy backpack trip. We had the trail to ourselves on our Wednesday afternoon hike.

    Short and Sweet
We combined this walk with a walk through the Othello Tunnels. This walk is short but interesting and beautiful. Combining it with Othello Tunnels (flat) made the day perfect. Falls Lake added the much needed rock and root climbing. The little lake at the end of an easy trek was breath taking. The quiet was so obvious, the fish jumping constant. I can't think of a better place to haul a tent and an inflatable boat to spend a night In the summer!) Easy to get to, easy leave. Food lockers, a non private toilet, what more could you ask for? We saw a couple of tent platforms. SHHH, don't tell anyone, this place is too special to tell anyone else about!

My favourite hike in the Fraser Valley
This is by far the most beautiful lake in the Fraser Valley, if one has a bit of time and wants a quick hike. It has a view and a nice bit of a walk to get the heart rate elevated. Sadly the fishing is now poor, having had a minority of people simply taking too many fish.
