Stunning view

Although the driving trail was closed for the season; we walked to the lake..... It was a beautiful scenic walk with eagle and wolf sightings. The lake is larger than expected, I look forward to returning when the season is warmer.

    Beautiful Lake and fishing
I have camped here in the past the sites are very clean and private they provided fire wood. There is a boat ramp to launch boats....its about a ten minute drive from Prince Rupert.

    Bumpy Roads, Tranquil Lake
Anyone who’s followed me on this site knows I’m something of a completionist. Having visited Prudhomme Lake in 2017, I finally decided to make it a point to patronize Diana Lake this past summer. It was an interesting, albeit brief, visit. Diana Lake Provincial Park is about a 15-minute drive outside of Prince Rupert and Port Edward. Once you turn off Highway 16, you must traverse a narrow, windy dirt road before arriving at the lake. The journey along the dirt road is only about 5 or so minutes long, but it seems longer because of the many potholes, which force you to slow down. A bit of road maintenance here would be nice. Once you arrive, though, Diana Lake is actually a pretty decent reprieve from urban life – much better than the aforementioned Prudhomme Lake. For an isolated provincial park, Diana Lake offers a fair amount of amenities: There is a brief walking trail, intriguing dam (which you can walk across), picnic area, beach and the always essential outhouse facilities. Pets are not allowed, but that doesn’t stop people from bringing them. When I attended the park, I was most impressed by the stunning views afforded of Diana Lake from the dam area. One could see how and why the site proves popular for fishing and other such watersports on hot summer days. The lake also strikes me as an excellent place to partake in vita contemplativa. On the whole, while Diana Lake is a lovely site to visit during the summer months, I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to return here again . . . at least not until some upkeep is done on the dirt road. But I’m sure the potholes won’t stop the locals from coming; after all, Diana Lake is the only actual “beach” area within striking distance of Prince Rupert.
