    Comparing four Vancouver area mountains
Cypress ski mountain like Grouse is “small” (a half hour outside downtown Vancouver). It’s incredible the amount snow accumulating there for a local mountain. Its value is cost savings and convenience/proximity, more than anything. Cypress is a tad more expensive (similar) to Grouse. Although a teenager might find it’s less or one-fifth the experience compared to the super long runs @Blackcomb, online rack prices of a youth pass is roughly half: $75 not $152 per day. Also, it’s easier for parents to drop off and go. Food is cheaper (or pack a lunch); reservations don’t need to be prearranged for dining at the lodge; there’s no packed gondola/wait, as per touristy Grouse. People who need wide runs or prefer the bare mountains of Aspen, CO, might prefer higher coastal mountains. Families might also enjoy panoramic vistas at Grouse, but skiers will enjoy the view at Cypress’ slopes—except that it doesn’t have a terrain park for boarders like smaller Mount Seymour. Grouse is competitive only if pricing for one child, since their special rate is $200/family of 3. Seymour and Grouse are popular for snowshoe/skate renters too, but Cypress has pretty reliable conditions as a former Olympic Park. Guest services at the daylodge can help riders to obtain a RFID reloadable Cypress card. Unlike Whistler, Cypress lift tickets are nonrefundable. It’s also higher & colder than Grouse…so dress warm, and enjoy the gorgeous ride at Cypress Mountain!

Long lineups every weekend. Not worth the wait or the money.
Location and road access are great. Best local (Vancouver) skiing resort for downhill skiing. However too few trails open this season, too crowded and lineups of 30-45 mins starting at 10am means weekends are useless. Not worth a season card anymore.
