War Museum - Territory of the World, Brest Region, Belarus

4.5 (58 reviews) Spent Ranking #12 in Brest Region Speciality Museums

Hidden gem!

At first, we were confused by the name of the museum and almost skipped it because we were not convinced it would deal with the Great Patriotic War in general or Brest Fortress in particular. Don't let the name fool you though, because this museum deals with both. A very good and new exhibition that has found the balance between interactivity and ''classic'' museum displays. For those wanting to learn more about the significance of Brest Fortress, this museum is a must see!

    Simple, but efficient
This museum tells the history about the defense of Brest Fortress, in a simple way. The displays, in English, are on the floor, in each room. Are eight, in total. Easy to understand every part of the theme. There´s some interesting objects and pictures about that time. It is in the fortress complex.

    New display, old theme
I was puzzled by the clumsy name "War Museum - Territory of the World". Firstly, museum is not territory, but on the territory. Secondly, the correct translation is "Territory of Peace". How to combine War and peace is a mystery. Only L.Tolstoy managed to do this in one book. What I saw is a better display than than in the old museum. The theme is the same, heroic defenders of the fortress in June 1941.
