Nice Course But Raccoon Problem

Feb 2020, Nice course to play at and well kept greens. The clubhouse/bar area is a little outdated but the price to play 9 holes with a cart is great. My only complaint is that the course front nine Championship Course has a RACCOON problem that needs to be addressed. We were at either hole 4 or 5, I can't remember, starting to putt when 2 Raccoons were hopping towards us, and I was not sticking around for a friendly visit - we immediately got in our golf carts and left that hole, never finishing our putting. It may sound funny, but I do not trust these animals. These are nocturnal animals, plus dangerous, and really should not be seen during the day. So, whoever is managing the golf course, please do something about the Raccoon problem on the course. All and all, I would play here again, if ever in the area.

    Regular's Opinion
I live close by and use it regularly. Nothing wrong with the course at all. Nice driving range. One of the few where it drops down so you can see and gauge the flight of the ball and nice practice greens too. Family 9 is nice if you don't want to practice but want to limber up, but its not that easy! Championship course is nice.Like two courses. The first links the second follows one hole after another for the most part. Good finishing hole too. Its a super bargain during the off season and a please to play. This brings me to the finale. One major caveat. Try to avoid this course during the season except to practice. Its jam packed with lots of older snow birds. Jam packed at all times as this course is a real bargain. So absolutely avoid it during the season. Other than that you will have a very nice time. Enjoy.

    28 years later....
I played a head-to-head tournament here in 1987 when it was known as Boynton Beach Municipal. Got my butt kicked, too, by the course and my fellow competitors. I didn't make it back until today, and was pleased to find that some of the best things here haven't changed much. The staff here are still genuinely friendly, ready and willing to help out as needed. Still feels a lot like the Cheers Bar, too - where just about everyone seems to be on a first name basis. I played with three guys who have a standing tee time here 3-4 days a week and immediately made me feel like I'd been part of this foursome for years. Same comfortably familiar parking lot, pro shop, cart barn and restaurant, too. Prices are good for Southeast Florida - $65 is the rack rate, but there are discount cards available for regular play The course is in very good shape in mid-February, from the tee boxes through the greens. That is a difficult task in the dry season, so kudos to the grounds crew. I didn't hit any traps, but my guys say the sand is soft and pure - as good as traps get. The course is not long - 6300 yards from the tips - but has plenty of challenges. There are 4-5 lengthy 4 pars. Three of the four 3 pars exceed 175 yards; each has water lurking. There is water to be easily found on several holes, and on several more if you go looking for it. Plenty of sand too, often artfully placed. It was not too breezy today, but my guys say it is often a factor. This is a muni with teeth - and pleasure to play. Carts now have GPS. It was not a perk in 1987! The course website touts 4 hour rounds, with heavy ranger activity. I didn't see a ranger, but we finished 'a few ticks' shy of that mark just by having the folks in front of us (and us!) play ready golf. Nice course, great company, and a good golf day. And today I beat the course a lot more than it beat me!
