Seacrest scrub

We’ve been going here since my now 12 and 13 year olds were born. There is a nice paved path that we have taken our scooters and strollers along. It is very short but you can see many native plants and animals along the path. We have seen tortoise, snakes (including a coral snake), spiders, many different birds, etc. You can choose to go off the paved path for an added adventure. This is fun but be prepared to walk in sand. Overall this is a small scrub in the middle of housing developments. It’s always been a fun walk with the kids no matter what age!

Nice place for a 45-minute walk
We were the only visitors on a Sunday afternoon judging from the empty parking lot. We didn't find any gopher tortoises that live here, nor any other creatures, but afternoon is probably not the best time to spot them. If you want a pleasant 45-minute walk on a well-marked trail, then this is the place for you. There are two trails: the first is the short (.18 mile) concrete Gopher Tortoise nature trail - this one is not too exciting; the second is the .75 mile Sand Pine hiking trail -- a much better choice. The Sand Pine trailhead starts at a wooden post marked with a yellow dot. This trail is well-marked with these posts for most of the way. Toward the end of the trail; however, the trail markings stopped because we missed a critical turn. Hint: When you encounter the dirt road toward the end of your hike, turn right and follow the dirt road to the main trail. We missed this turn-off but nevertheless, eventually ended up back on the concrete Gopher Tortoise hiking trail. You'll encounter some unique vegetation like cacti along this trail. It's worth a 45-minute walk. It's best to look at the trail map in advance located at Palm Beach County's webpage.
