Fun, Food and History - Excellent!!!

Great Experience!!! Bobby led us to the well known and hidden gems of the North End (bakeries, salumerie and restaurants). We sampled pizza, an Italian sub, prosciutto, Italian pastries and olive oil to name just a few of the authentic foods we tasted. We were introduced to a pastry called sfogliatelle. It is a delicate layered pastry filled with orange flavored ricotta - to die for. And, what is a tour of the North End without a cannoli from Mike's Pastry. Bobby grew up and still lives in the North End and shared his experiences and insights into how the North End has changed over the last 50 plus years. So informative. I would highly recommend this tour whether you are visiting Boston or, like me, live only 30 minutes away.

Only a true “north ender” could’ve done this
This tour was the highlight of our trip to Boston. It was like taking a step back in time. Having a true north ender give the tour made all the difference. He knew history and people and little nooks and crannies that all the commercial tours did not have. Matter fact, when you’re “‘touring with Bobby, you don’t wait for nothin’”. Lines that were wrapped around the block we walked right past and received our food while hearing about the rich history of the restaurants, politics, churches, family life, and more. I would recommend anyone take this tour. Side note: one of the people we were touring with, was with his aunt, who is with us from Sicily…. his father (aunt’s brother), who it since passed away, had painted a picture for a local bookstore. He told the story to Bobby. Bobby knew exactly where the bookstore was and added it to our tour. The owner came out and told the man that his father, the artist, used to come in and sing at his store. The son was able to tell the owner that he was so proud to have his painting in that store. They reminisced of the man’s father, and what a joy he was to this world. Only a local person could’ve provided that on the tour!
