Hutchinson County Historical Museum, Texas, United States

4.5 (4 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #2 in Borger History Museums

A treasure trove of area history!

A great place to spend an hour or so learning about the area, from town settlement and quite a colorful beginning to geologic and archeological history. Housed in a nearly century old hotel, the museum is two floors packed with eye-catching displays and written archives. The volunteer staff is friendly and helpful. There's also a fun visual challenge with an interesting pictorial annal of Hutchinson County past as a price for correctly identifying all 20 objects.

    Very good museum
The museum had very good information of the Borger area covering Native American history and the oil business. It's not a place that is situated on a well traveled crossroads but it is an excellent place to visit. The staff that day were very helpful and pleasant women. The museum includes the WPA mural that was originally at the post office. Would definitely recommend stopping.

    Hutchinson County has Incredible History
Wonderful museum full of history! Fossils from the ancient sea beds, Panhandle Pueblo native people, mammoth fossils, Adobe Walls battles, Boomtown Borger and the oil boom. Displays are nice and being updated, lots artifacts and tons of interesting history. Who knew Hutchinson County had such a rich history? Great for families!
