Beautiful Clock Tower

The clock tower marks the main historic entrance to the old town through the walls of the city. Through the double arches you can enter the historic centre or indeed depart it in the direction of Getsemani. It is a beautiful, elegant tower and both it and the plaza behind it are always a hive of activity. A great landmark to use to get your bearings.

    The place to be
Even in a pandemic, this large outdoor square sings with loud music and laughter. Everyone was wearing a mask unless sitting at distances tables and drinking beer. This is the heartbeat of Cartagena’s nightlife.

Heart of the Centro, full of activity
There was even Catholic Mass on Sunday. The handmade candy arcade is here, several roof top bars (look up) and many tour groups meet here. I can't speak to the public toilets but they are here too. At Sunset just outside of the "gate" are indigenous dancers with recorded music. Tip: Go before dark so you can literally see them.
