Delightful tour!
The US-born owners are new and have only been there about 3+ months, but show lots of passion for their cocoa business and beautiful gardens. Our group was large, so they sensibly split us into 4 small groups and one person took each group in a different direction, showing us the property and teaching us about the plants, trees, animals AND the process of growing and refining cacao! They gave us samples of it at each stage and after, treated us to squares made with their chocolate, as well as samples of chocolate 'tea' and a liquor made with rum, cocoa and sweetened condensed milk, with, of course, products we could buy. Although a very small and relatively primitive operation, their enthusiasm was infectious and we wish them luck as they get further established. It was also encouraging to hear how they are working with local people and also doing small projects that give back to their new country. A very nice tour!

Great tour. Great hosts.
Gary and Carlo are really special people who care very much for the environment and their surroundings. Gary gave a great tour of the spectacular gardens and chocolate factory all under the rain forest canopy of trees some of which are hundreds of years old. He is very knowledgeable and is great at involving adults and children alike. Green poison dart frogs, sloths.... Definitely don’t miss this great value trip.

Great service, interesting place and delicious food!
Gary was a very good host. He does love what he works in and you can feel it. He taught us about edible leaves, sustainable planting, the magic in "connections-among-plants", and of course chocolate. From the cacao fruit to the bitter bar. He made lots of jokes, told us about seahorses and his project. It was all very interesting. Carlos was also a very good host. And he cooks really well!! We bought chocolate and tea. I wish I had bought more! If you like nature, hiking and chocolate, you must go!
