Great Texas winery

Great wines. Owner was welcoming, kind and very knowledgable. Beautiful place with lots of charm. Tasting was $10.00 for 8 (good deal) and wines were reasonably priced, $13 to $25.

    Excellent little Texas winery!
You don't really expect this in Northern Texas, but this little out of the way Gem has a lot to offer. Set on an idilic bluff overlooking the vineyards below, are multiple terraces ideal for a reception (during cooler months). The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable about their wines, and the tasting was unexpectedly good... so much that we even ordered several bottles to be shipped for us to enjoy at home. There are also small plates of varying cheese and other appetizers available to order with your tasting or glass of wine. Definitely worth a stop even if a bit off the beaten path!

Very cool place! Great story about the owners who operate it, too.
Ok, I have to admit that I'm kind of a wine snob. I always said that there is no Texas wine fit to drink. I've visited wine country all over the globe and I've enjoyed some of the finest wines made. But we stopped into this family run winery and found it very uniquely situated against the hill with vineyards flowing outward to the vast views of the valley and hills beyond. The owner graciously welcomed us and wanted to let us taste the wines and so of course I was in no position to be rude & say no even at 10am... My first impression on the white wines were that they were not what most people are used to. BUt on further evaluation that is a good thing, they are unique and actually well made wines. Continued tasting into the reds and then a desert wine and while I repeat that they are not wines you are familiar with, they are quite well made and very very good wines. I stand corrected: there are some tasty wines in Texas. Cheers!
