Top-notch exhibitions

Cranbrook Art Museum invites viewers to discover relevant and transformative moments in modern and contemporary art, architecture, and design. Through our exhibitions, collections, programming, and publications, we bring together people from our region and around the world to provoke new ideas about art, creativity, and the built environment. We achieve this at Cranbrook Educational Community, a National Historic Landmark campus, where the pursuit of knowledge and innovation is paramount. We are open free to all and late on Thursdays! May 25 – September 25, 2022, visitors can experience a “hole” new dimension of our historic campus with our new miniature golf course, inspired by the art and design of Cranbrook. Sink a putt at nine custom-designed, art-inspired holes located outdoors on the beautiful grounds of Cranbrook Art Museum adjacent to the Orpheus Fountain. Grab a drink and a snack at our Fika cafe—it’s summer fun for everyone.

    Top-notch exhibitions
A small art museum highlighting modern and contemporary art, architecture, and design through temporary exhibitions that change several times a year. The museum opened in 1932 in support of the Cranbrook Academy of Art, which launched the careers of so many great artists and architects, including Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, Harry Bertois, Ruth Adler Schnee, Florence Knoll, Harry Weese, Macarthur Binion, Jean Kavanagh, Allie McGhee, and so many others. I've learned so much from their exhibitions since I've become a member. They are eye-opening and thought-provoking, not to mention often fascination and thorough in their approach. Often something I see opens the door to the work of an artist I did not know or a connection to architecture or art that I can learn more about. Worth a visit as well as keeping an eye on upcoming exhibitions and programs!!

Beautiful Building, Hit Or Miss Exhibits
Cranbrook Art Museum is a beautiful building, and it is located within a magnificent campus. It is well worth a visit, though the art is sometimes pretty unremarkable. One added note: The staff is friendly and enthusiastic.
