Ski Complex Chunkurchak, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

The best ski resort near Bishkek
Chunkurchat ski resort at the moment is the best ski base near Bishkek. It's not far away, usually takes about 1-2 hours, depending on the car and the driver. Good infrastructure and equipment. Good choice of tracks varying from beginner difficulty to very hard. It also has cafeteria also my friends and I usually take our own food and hot drinks. One thing I should point out is because of it's popularity and high standards it is very crowded on the weekends. P.S. if you are visiting Bishkek and have no transport you can go to any big sport shop (like Gergert sport), they organise transportation from shop to base.

A nice ski base close to Bishkek
Over all it's a nice ski base and it's growing every year! It's a good place to learn how to ski and not really a good place for a pro skier. It's possible to do some basic ski touring around the ski base and that can be fun. I booked my tour with TUK the Trekking Union of Kyrgyzstan for arranging transport. It was great I went with many locals and expats living in Bishkek. It's a fun mix of cultures and levels of skiing experiences. TUK Phone Number: 0312 909 115, 0556 10 19 33 Transport from Bishkek to the ski base and back is 400 SOM Ski rental from TUK is 500 SOM at the ski base there equipment is ok but it cost 700 to 1000 SOM per day. Lift ticket cost 1100 SOM There is a small cafe but I would recommend to bring your own food to the ski base.

Beginners base
It's a nice place for beginners. I went there without doing some prior research about the place, as somebody from the hotel I was staying in suggested it. But when I got there I was really disappointed as all 4 ski pistes were for beginners. Light blue if I may say so without any curves or turns. But as I said if you are beginner it's a good place to start learning. A day ticket costs 1100 soms, they have ski and snowboard rental places and you can also find something to eat as there are people barbecuing sashlicks. There's also a place which sells really good German bratwursts. There is no beer though or mulled wine.
