Binh Dinh Museum, Binh Dinh Province, Vietnam

3.0 (22 reviews) Spent 1-2 hours Ranking #14 in Quy Nhon Speciality Museums

Vietnamese version of historical accounts (admission fee: 10,000 VND)

A little museum with cultures in Binh Dinh province, Champa artifacts, and modern history about how Vietnamese people fought French imperialists and American aggressors. Champa ruins were nice, but need more systematic guidance. They are perhaps put there being ignored in the sense that Champa cultures may not be native Vietnamese. Some photos and accounts of communist revolution, massacres done by the Korean army, achievements of Vietnamese communists for killing american military (corpses littered on the Quy Nhon beach, the photo I do not upload here), which reflect Vietnamese communist party's view, were uncomfortable to some degree. The second floor was dedicated totally to Ho Chi Minh.

A mixed bag of ancient and modern history
The museum has no entry fee. The courtyard has a number of Cham carvings that are about a thousand years old. It also has military items from the 20th century which indicates that it tries to fit a lot in. The main room has a collection of old pottery. Three wings off the main room hold more Cham carvings, a room dedicated to the wars against the French and US and a further mixed collection of items from about 2,000 years ago to more modern times. Not all items are described in English and the staff were not able to converse with us. Museum buffs will be disappointed with the quality of this museum but the artifacts make it a worthwhile visit. The museum deserves support and your visit will help. We bought a book on Cham carvings for$6 not that we can read it but it was a way to support them.

    Nice collection of Champa's sculptures
The museum is small, but worth a visit for the collection of Champa's sculptures. I would not recommend to come here only for the museum, but if you pass by Quy Nhon (down town) it is a good stop.
